Education writing and editing

Education copywriter – copy editor – ghostwriter – proofreader

Do you need a copywriter who not only knows what a fronted adverbial is, but also knows how to use one?

Are you looking for someone who knows the difference between an NQT and an ECT, and knows their PPA from their ITT?

I have more than two decades of experience working as a writer and editor in the education sector. For 20 years, I was a news reporter, features writer and editor at Tes, covering everything from Ofsted and academies to how to spot eating disorders and how to deal with bereavement in the classroom.

I’ve worked closely with teachers, commissioning articles that I know will speak to them. I understand how teachers think – what their needs and their priorities are.

I also researched and wrote the Tes Little Book of Grammar, an accessible guide to spelling, punctuation and grammar, so I know how to wield a semicolon with unfailing accuracy.

And, as a journalist, I respect the importance of deadlines – I pride myself on never having missed one.

If you’re looking for a copywriter or editor who understands the education sector, can craft beautiful prose, is adept at working to tone-of-voice requirements and SEO, and has a pedant’s eye for accuracy, then please contact me.

Testimonials

“Adi is a talented and experienced writer, with a passion for finding and drawing out the rich subject material of a story. Her work is always engaging and engrossing, and of high quality. Adi is a consummate professional, who knows the sector inside out and always works to the highest standard. Moreover, she is collaborative, good humoured and funny, which makes working with her a real pleasure.”

Professor Becky Francis, chief executive, Education Endowment Foundation

“Adi is an outstanding editor. Whatever I had written was strengthened by the time she had spent on it. For Adi, words matter, but they have to earn their place on the page, and each piece not only has to be grammatically accurate, but should also flow and be readable.

She always remained professional, sympathetic to the demands and deadlines that her writers face, and always encouraging. When significant changes were needed, they were requested in a supportive, warm way, but always with clarity. Any organisation that has Adi as an editor and copywriter will be the stronger for it.”

Dr David James, deputy head, Lady Eleanor Holles School

“I have worked with Adi over many years and hugely admire her lucid style, attention to detail and sheer creativity. She can write features which, in their quirkiness, are laugh-out-loud funny; she can write factual reports that are a model of crisp, uncluttered clarity. As a journalist she is empathetic and determined; as a writer she is second to none.”

Geoff Barton, general secretary, the Association of School and College Leaders

"Adi is an exceptional writer with an engaging style. Her attention to detail and precision as an editor is unparalleled, ensuring everything she produces is of the highest possible standard. Her writing is engaging and entertaining, but this is never at the expense of accuracy. Her knowledge of the entire education sector, from early years to post-16, is extensive, and she tenaciously delivers on time. While achieving all of that, she also manages to be a supportive team player who supports others in their work."
